This cozy was designed for my step-dad who loves pigs. His family owned a pig farm when he was a child and he loves Gloucester Old Spots. I made this to say thank-you to him for being wonderful!
This was for a slim Nokia phone. Size may need to be adjusted for different phones and makes.
I used wool that has been in my stash for over 20 years and I have no idea what make it is! This is also the first pattern I have ever designed and written out so if it does not make sense please let me know. I have used European crochet terms.
Materials:
25g Light pink 4 ply yarn
10g Dark pink DK yarn
3mm crochet hook
Pair of wobbly eyes
Cozy:
In light pink yarn -
- Chain 13 stitches.
- First row:
- double crochet (dc) in second chain from hook.
- dc next 10 stitches
- 3 dc in next stitch (last one before the knot).
- dc in next 10 stitches (on the bottom of the chain)
- 3 dc in next stitch (last stitch).
- Slip stitch (ss) to join. (28 stitches)
- Second row:
- Chain 1, then dc in every stitch with ss to close round.
- Repeat the second row until phone cozy is the same length as the phone
- Ears
- Change to dark pink yarn (leave light pink yarn attached) and join to 1st stitch
- *dc and Half Treble Crochet (htc) in next stitch,
- Treble Crochet (tc), DoubleTreble (dtr), dc in next stitch,
- htc and dc in next stitch, ss into same stitch & break off yarn
- Miss three stitches then repeat from * for second ear.
- Last row of cozy:
- In light pink yarn again, chain 1, dc next 14 stitches (going over the ears), dc 2 together, dc in next 10 stitches, dc 2 together, ss to finish.
- Nose:
- In light pink yarn –
- chain 9, dc in 2nd chain from hook and dc in next 8 chain stitches, (8)
- Row 2 - chain 1, dc twice in first stitch, dc next 6 stitches, dc twice in last stitch, (10)
- Row 3 - chain 1, dc twice in first stitch, dc next 8 stitches, dc twice in last stitch, (12)
- Row 4 - chain 1, dc 2, dc next 2 stitches in dark pink yarn, dc next 2 stitches in light pink yarn, dc next 2 stitches in dark pink yarn, dc last 2 stitches in light pink yarn (12)
- Rows 5 - 7 - repeat row 4 (12)
- Row 8 - in light pink yarn only chain 1, dc in each stitch, (12)
- Row 9 - chain 1, dc 2 together, dc next 8 stitches, dc 2 together, (10)
- Row 10 - chain 1 dc 2 together, dc next 6 stitches, dc 2 together. (8)
- Join in dark pink yarn again, ss each stitch around the edge, cast off
- Sew to front of phone cozy in the centre
- Tail:
- In light pink yarn,
- Chain 25 stitches, dc in 2nd chain from hook
- Row 1 - dc 1, then dc 2 together along the rest of the row.
- Cast off and sew onto back of cozy
- Finish:
- Stick on eyes – I used plastic ones and stuck them on.
- Add a phone!
